Hwy 12 bridge over Chippewa River west of Benson to close Aug. 1
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. –Starting Tuesday, Aug. 1, weather permitting, the Hwy 12 bridge over the Chippewa River, located just west of Benson, will close until mid-September, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will be replacing the approach panels, guardrail, and paving at the bridge, which will be impassable to all traffic. The work is part of the current Hwy 12 bridge replacement project, replacing/repairing three bridges between Hwy 59 and Benson. The other two Hwy 12 bridges, located east and west of Danvers, are still under construction.
Hwy 12 traffic should continue to use the detour on Hwy 59 and County Road 20. The overall project is expected to wrap up in September. Visit the project website at mndot.gov/d4/projects/hwy12bridges to learn more.
